Black and Blue Otter and Self Mini Lops

Here at Seacliffe stud one of our main colours and the one we have had most success with on the show tables is the black otter. The black otter colour is described in this way as the pattern on coat is not disimilar to those of an otter.

We were very fortunate to have been provided with our Foundation lines from Brian and Mary Philpotts who have bred multiple champions and had success in breeding and showing for many years. With their help we have continued these lines and produced some wonderful young show rabbits that are bred with not only amazing type and coat but wonderful temperament.

Milo

I would have to say that Milo is one of the best typed rabbits in the barn. Due to being a little bit older and not clearing his coat fully when moulting he has never been shown with us. Milo loves his food and to sleep. The first thing we do when we go into the barn is give Milo his wake up call so as to not startle him. Milo has beautiful tanning and a lovely big head and great ear carriage.

Now for one of the stars of Seacliffestud! Introducing Jose! Jose is himself a little bit of a celebrity around this neck of the woods! He made his debut last year with a Best in Show at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in the Welsh Lop Circle show and Best Of Breed in the main show! Not bad ehh? To try and go one better he managed 3rd Best of Breed at the London Championships (think Crufts, but rabbits!) and got the CC in a very large and very tight class. Since last year Jose has continued to do very well at shows winning many CC's and Best of Breeds!

We're trying our best to keep him grounded as although big heads are something that we strive for in the mini lop, he's getting rather demanding! I mean, diamonte encrusted food bowls are just plain tacky Jose! As well as being a great show buck Jose has fathered some wonderful babies that have also been doing very well on the show table.

The main aim at Seacliffe stud is to breed rabbits with great type and temperament, one of such is our Pablo. Pablo was born here in late 2008 and has done very well as a show rabbit taking Best of Breeds and winning lots of CC's. Pablo enjoys nothing more than spending hours running around the indoor built 12 foot run in the barn. He comes when he's called which makes it much easier when it comes to putting him back in his hutch at night.

This is our Pedro. Peds is a blue otter buck from Brian and Mary and one of the first miniature lops that we had here at Seacliffe stud. I think that his pictures say it all really. The type on Pedro is very much how we would interpret the standard for the miniature lop to be. Pedro is a real gentle soul and loves nothing more than his head rubbed and being fussed over. A firm favourite with me (Gary) but don't tell the others! Pedro is the father of Pablo and has produced some cracking babies.

The Does

This is Juanita! Juanita is a beautiful Black Self Doe that came to live with us from Mary and Brian Philpotts at Foxtwist Stud. Juanita is so typy that we thought she was a buck! Isn't she lovely?

Juanita recently gave birth to a lovely litter of 5 babies in which we kept 3 of these here at Seacliffe Stud. Juanita is known to have smoke and sable in her parentage and produced 2 siamese sables in her last litter (See Able and Mable on the Sables page!). Just look at that lovely short body and ear carriage.

Little Chris is a Black Self Doe from Chris Humphrey's. Little Chris is currently awaiting a litter of babies therefore was unable to make the photo shoot. Pictures of mother and babies to be updated in a few months!

Little Chris has a real adventurous streak and we hope she will take after her dad Champion Black Jack.
