REW's and the Sables and Smokes

Now, This page has grown really more than we expected when we started out in rabbits. Initially we'd focused mainly on the oranges and the otters but deep down Mark has always had a bit of a soft spot for Red Eyed Whites (REW).

We have a very small stud of REW's consisting of one buck and one doe. These are really Marks project and he's just recently had a litter born of three babies which he hopes to retain one buck for showing.

Kanye is our Buck and he came to us from Kaz Gillians of Gillyhop stud. Kanye has a fantastic head and body shape but finds the showing all a bit much and has a slight tendancy to twist his ears on the show table. This has got better with age but Kanye is really a well loved stud buck. Kanye is known as the rabbit without the hutch door as he doesn't like to feel trapped in. Kanye always greets us by popping his head out to say hello and to get a head rub.

Meet Sacha. Sacha is a lovely doe that came to us from our good friend Chris Humphreys. Sacha comes from fantastic lineage of REW's and is a real little treasure. She has the most wonderful coat and really great shoulders and we thought she would make the perfect mate for Kanye. Sacha has just recently has her first litter of babies and has produced three little stunners. One of these is Kason that can be seen below. Sacha was a bit sleepy having her picture taken!

From these two lovely rabbits we are keeping here for Mark to show, Kason. Kason is a lovely little buck and was only 6 weeks old when this picture was taken. I think you can see from these pictures that Kason has got potential and will hopefully do well as a show rabbit. We'll update the pictures of him once he is a little older.

As well as the REW's here at Seacliffe Stud another colour that we've had pop out is our Smokes and Sables. When Brian and Mary provided us with our foundation otter line they had told us that in the background of their lines were sables. Brian and Mary did very well with their sable and when we saw these babies we couldn't pass them on. We kept two babies back from a recent litter. A buck and a doe. We don't plan to actively breed the sables but couldn't resist running these on to see how they develop.

No prizes for how we came up with their names!!!

Introducing Able, the siamese sable......(I know!)

And Mable, Able's Siamese Sable Sister ( Ingenious name choices I think not!). Both these rabbits have fantastic ear carriage and lovely short bodies. At just 12 weeks old I am seeing real potential in both these young rabbits.
